Garage in Nashville Sustains Smoky Staining
The stored rags and grease clean-up products ignited in this Nashville garage. Fortunately, the homeowner heard the smoke alarm and ran out and put out the fire with the ABC extinguisher that was hanging on the wall. He realized the smoke odors were beyond his abatement, so he called our SERVPRO crew to eliminate the airborne odors and stains. We isolated the garage from the main wing of the house, set up two hydroxyl generators to chemically alter and render harmless the smoke particulates and then cleaned the walls and ceiling. The mop up of the epoxy coated floor was simple, but we used dry sponges and rags to clean the remaining oily residues. One wall, where the rags were piled up, and the entrance door to the house, were primed and painted with a fresh coat of red latex enamel. Our customer was extremely pleased with the results, no odors, and a great looking garage.
